iBeacon holder for pet collars

Here’s an interesting idea we recently came across: silicone holders for iBeacons. You can order them from several sellers on Amazon by searching for “AirTag holder”. They are a tight squeeze for our BC021 iBeacon (see photo), but once they are in, they won’t fall out.

iBeacons for Home Automation

Home automation has become increasingly popular over the years, as homeowners look for ways to simplify their lives and make their homes more comfortable and convenient. One technology that has gained traction in this area is iBeacon. iBeacon is a small device that uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to transmit signals to nearby devices, such as smartphones or tablets. These signals can be used to trigger a wide range of actions, including home automation.

So, how can iBeacon be used to trigger home automations? Let’s explore some of the ways.

Lights

One of the most common uses of iBeacon for home automation is to control the lights. With iBeacon, you can set up your lights to turn on or off automatically when you enter or leave a room. This can be especially useful in areas of your home where you may not always remember to turn off the lights, such as the garage or laundry room.

Thermostat

Another popular use for iBeacon is to control the thermostat. With an iBeacon-enabled thermostat, you can set the temperature to adjust automatically based on your location. For example, if you leave the house, the thermostat can turn off the heat or air conditioning to save energy. And when you return, the thermostat can adjust the temperature to your desired setting.

Security

iBeacon can also be used to enhance home security. By placing iBeacons around your home, you can set up notifications to alert you when someone enters or leaves the house. This can be especially useful if you have children or pets, as it can give you peace of mind knowing that you’ll be alerted if they leave the house.

Entertainment

iBeacon can also be used to enhance your home entertainment experience. For example, you can set up your TV or sound system to turn on automatically when you enter the room. This can be especially useful if you have a home theater setup and want to create a more immersive experience.

Smart Locks

Finally, iBeacon can be used to control smart locks. With an iBeacon-enabled lock, you can set up your doors to automatically unlock when you approach them. This can be especially useful if you have your hands full and don’t want to fumble with keys.

Overall, iBeacon technology can be a powerful tool for automating your home. With iBeacon, you can set up your home to respond to your presence, making your life more convenient and comfortable. As the technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see even more innovative ways to use iBeacon for home automation.
