Following are step by step instructions for changing the battery in our Blue Charm BC037 beacon.
Locate the line separating the two parts of the housing (as indicated by the arrow in this picture).
Using some sort of tool with an edge, carefully pry apart the two housing pieces. We recommend using a guitar pick (as shown is this picture) since it has a relatively sharp edge but is also soft enough to not scratch the housing.
Completely remove the top housing piece (the flatter piece) from the bottom housing piece (cup shaped).
Using some non-metallic tool, lift out the printed circuit board with the battery attached.
The printed circuit board and attached battery.
Using a plastic tool such as a pen cap with pocket hook (as shown in this picture), push the battery out of the battery holder in the direction shown above.
The battery completely separated from the battery holder on the printed circuit board.
Obtain a suitable replacement battery of type CR2032. The original battery may have a letter added to the number, such as the CR2032H pictured here, but you don’t need to exactly match that final letter. Just use a standard CR2032 battery that can be easily purchased on Amazon. Packs of ten CR2032 batteries sell for approximately $4, i.e. $0.40 per battery.
Slide the new battery into the battery holder in the opposite direction that you removed the old battery. Note that the writing on the battery (the positive side) should face up, away from the printed circuit board.
New battery completely installed. Be sure it is pushed all the way in.
Place the printed circuit board with new battery back into the bottom housing piece. Be sure to follow the orientation shown in the picture above.
The printed circuit board has three little notches around the edge which correspond to and fit around three small posts around the edge of the bottom housing piece (see above photo). Be sure these notches and posts line up properly.
Orient the top housing piece as in the photo above.
Note the position of the notch in the top housing piece.
Place the top housing piece onto the bottom piece.
Double check the orientation of the notch in the top piece.
The notch in the top piece should be lined up directly above the U shaped section on the edge of the bottom piece. Note the two arrows in the picture.
After getting them properly positioned, press the two pieces firmly together.
